Yorkshire Terriers are a very popular breed due to their compact size but large spirit. They are lively but also enjoy being pampered and cuddled. While good with older children, some Yorkies do not do well with young children as loudness and quick movements can scare them. An excellent watchdog, Yorkshire terriers are very territorial. They have keen hearing and bark to alert the owner to potential danger. But, some Yorkies have a tendency to take barking too far to the point of becoming a nuisance. Even though Yorkshire Terriers are small, they often will try to dominate animals many times their size. A Yorkie is a great pet for families with older children or no children.
